Behind the Scenes: Our Pre-Shipment Inspection Process

Published 2026-07-24 · By STARALITE Team

One of the biggest pain points for lighting importers is receiving products that don't match your samples, have defects, or arrive broken. That's why we've built a strict, 4-step 100% pre-shipment inspection process over our 20 years in the industry, to make sure every product that leaves our warehouse meets your standards and arrives in perfect condition.

Here's exactly what happens before your order is packed for shipping:

  1. First visual check: Our inspection team checks every single piece for cosmetic defects first. We look for scratches on metal frames, chips or cracks in glass or crystal shades, uneven plating, and any visible damage from production. Any item that doesn't pass this step is sent back to the factory for replacement immediately.
  2. Full function test: Next, every light is plugged in and tested for a minimum of 5 minutes. We check that all LED components work correctly, there are no flickering issues, wiring is secure, and all dimming or smart functions (if applicable) operate as expected. We don't rely on factory testing—we do this ourselves for every unit.
  3. Specification verification: We cross-check every item against your order sheet to make sure you get exactly what you ordered: correct size, finish, design, and any custom branding or packaging you requested. This step eliminates mistakes like wrong color finishes or incorrect product mixes.
  4. Packaging drop test: Finally, we test random samples of packed boxes with a 1-meter drop test to make sure your products are protected during shipping. We use thick foam inserts and double-walled boxes for all fragile items like glass and crystal pendants, to reduce breakage during transit to nearly zero.

Only when 100% of your order passes all four steps do we schedule shipping. We also share inspection photos with every order before it leaves, so you can see the quality for yourself before it arrives. This process is why over 80% of our clients have been working with us for 5+ years—they know they can trust us to deliver consistent quality, every single time.
